Heating and regulation system
CUnderstandably, the aim with this house was to choose an economical form of heating, and so – bearing in mind the low heating requirements characteristic of low-energy houses – electric floor heating was chosen for the heating of the whole building. The specific system was chosen according to the floor covering – in the hall, utility room, bathroom and WC, where the floor is covered by ceramic tiles, ECOFLOOR heating mats are used. In the remainder of the rooms there are floating floors, and so ECOFILM heating foils are used to provide floor heating.
Supplementary heating and a place for towels to hang are provided in the bathroom and WC by a ladder radiator controlled by a switch. Heating throughout the building is controlled by BMR central regulation, which enables each room to be controlled individually. A hot air-producing stove is situated in the living room on the ground floor. It doesn’t have a distribution system to carry heat around the house and is intended as an auxiliary source of thermal comfort – particularly for the transition periods of spring and autumn. It is actually only used very sporadically.
Acquisition and operating costs
The delivery and installation of the heating system was arranged by EB-Elektro Bartoš of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, and the price of the whole system – with material and installation provided on a so-called turnkey basis – came to 110 thousand CZK, including VAT. Because it was planned from the beginning that the building will be used for long-term monitoring, the house is equipped with subsidiary electricity meters to measure electricity consumption for heating and warm water heating.
In 2018, the tumble dryer was added to the household and this was immediately reflected in total consumption. In the summer of 2020, the swimming pool was put into operation and again energy consumption increased significantly. In the document "Consumption detail" (download link below), which gathers data from secondary electrometers, it can be seen that although there was a significant increase in electricity payments in 2020, energy consumption for the heating decreased compared to 2019. The main increase (approx. 1.2 MWh) is in "Other consumption", which is precisely the influence of the above-mentioned appliances and equipment.
